    UPCOMING EVENT!

I will be teaching my unique Striplique Landscape technique at the winter session of Empty Spools Seminars at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove California. The five day seminar runs February 23rd – 28th 2014 (Sun – Fri). It’s not too late to enroll; there are still spaces available in several classes including mine.

And now – more on my class, Striplique Landscapes; this is one of my ‘signature’ styles of constructing landscape quilts that combines appliqué with fast strip piecing. The result is a slightly stylized landscape that can be as simple or intricate as you wish. The appliqué can be any method or combination of methods you prefer – hand or machine and as part of the class you will learn a fast and easy raw-edged machine technique as well as an unusual liquid adhesive fusing method that leaves the quilt much softer than the typical web fused quilts. You will also come away from the class with a new eye towards landscapes and the fabrics that can be used to create them.

Waterscapes are particularly well suited to the Striplique technique and in this seminar class you will be able to preserve memories of the stunning ocean scenery of the Monterey Peninsula. River scenes and lakes or ponds also make great subjects for the Striplique technique. Design your own scene from a photograph or create a landscape of the imagination – come play and learn, you will have a great time!
