These three students got their projects to a photographic stage: the bird and the butterflies are from my design assignment handout, the flower was the student's original design. All of them amazing but even more so given none of these students had ever thread painted before. Way to go ladies!
I taught a strip pieced seascape class at Cedar Ri I taught a strip pieced seascape class at Cedar Ridge Quilts last week. Two of the students pretty much finished their quilt tops by the second session: one reproduced my sample while the other designed her own from photographs. Both turned out marvelous!

One such break was painting a miniature wooden birdhouse for the Audubon Society's decorated birdhouse fundraiser. I painted it right before Halloween so what could be more perfect than a haunted birdhouse?

These are samples of dyeing fabric with Sharpie pens I taught in my Journal Quilts class at Ace Sew & Vac last week. The first two photos are my samples, the remaining are by the students

It snowed one day while I was there and the temperatures plummeted well below freezing which sent the potato farmers scrambling to try and get in the harvest before it froze. I also saw a great jack-o-lantern made from an old ocean mine

Again the first two photos are my own work and represent the two pattern choices I had for the students. Most chose one of these but a few students wanted to stitch their own design ideas as the other photos show

First came NWQ Expo featuring the largest showing of my work in a single venue I've ever had (along with the months of decisions and preparation of the work I would include}. These are just a handful of the Quilts - large and small I had on display.
